Piquette is a strange creature, an homage to the farmworkers of France centuries ago. There has been a quiet, worldwide renaissance for this sparkling beverage, which was a mischievous "tradition" for the impoverished cellar workers of the past. Workers would take care to not press grapes too hard, understanding that they could take the "waste" grape skins, add a bit of water, a splash of juice, and make a light, refreshing sparkling wine for themselves.
For the 2021 vintage we've added something different to our "grape wine" - apple juice! Made with pomace of Bläufrankisch, Zweigelt, St. Laurent, and Kerner, along with biodynamically grown apples from Mt. Hood and our own property, we've added an exciting twist to standard Piquette.
